Job Posting: Deputy Commissioner – Ontario Junior Lacrosse League (OJLL)
The Ontario Junior Lacrosse League (OJLL) is seeking a dedicated and passionate leader to serve as the new Deputy Commissioner, beginning with the 2025 season. Deputy Commissioner Bob Clevely has played an instrumental role in the growth and success of the OJLL since his appointment. The Board of Governors and the Ontario lacrosse community extend their deepest gratitude to Bob for his commitment to the league and the sport. With his term now concluded, we are excited to invite qualified candidates to apply for this pivotal position.
THE OJLL
The OJLL is Ontario's premier junior men's box lacrosse league, sanctioned by the Ontario Lacrosse Association (OLA). Annually, the OJLL Champion is awarded the prestigious Iroquois Trophy and represents Ontario in the Minto Cup, competing nationally against the champions of Alberta and British Columbia.
Renowned as the top development ground for the National Lacrosse League (NLL), the OJLL has produced nineteen first-overall draft picks since the NLL's inaugural draft in 1996, demonstrating the depth and caliber of talent within the league. Currently, the OJLL comprises eleven teams across Ontario: Brampton Excelsiors, Burlington Blaze, Kitchener-Waterloo Lacrosse Club, Mimico Mountaineers, Oakville Buzz, Orangeville Northmen, Peterborough Lakers, St. Catharines Athletics, Six Nations Arrows, Toronto Beaches and Whitby Warriors.
Deputy Commissioner Role
As the Deputy Commissioner, you will play an essential role in supporting the OJLL's mission and operations, including:
Serving a (2) two-year term
Supporting the OJLL Board of Governors, composed of Governors from all 11 teams.
Assisting the OJLL Commissioner in overseeing lacrosse operations across the league.
Supporting OJLL member clubs with operational needs and upholding league policies.
Upholding the OJLL Policy Paper, overseeing key areas such as the OJLL Draft, protected lists, rosters, suspensions, coordination with officials, and other league decisions.
Qualifications:
Strong leadership background and demonstrated experience in lacrosse operations.
No current affiliation with any OJLL team.
A commitment to growing the game and maintaining the highest standards of integrity.
