Career Game For Multiple Burlington Blaze Players In Kitchener-Waterloo
Ten points is a good night in the OJLL. On Friday night the Burlington Blaze had two players hit the mark against Kitchener-Waterloo. One of those set the new top mark for goals in a game this season in the 18-8 road victory.
Will MacLeod had three goals in the second period alone, part of a nine-goal second for Burlington, and part of his seven on the night. Seven goals in a game is the most by any player in the OJLL this season. He’d add three assists to finish the night with 10 points, a new career high for MacLeod and the most since he had seven in a 15-6 win over KW on June 3 last season.
Teammate Alex Marinier also had ten points (4 goals, 6 assists). His previous career high was eight, which he accomplished in the opening game of the season, May 21 against, yes, KW (a 15-12 win).
It was the second game action, and first start for goaltender Cal Leaver-Preyra since a trade from Mimico, also winning his first game with Burlington and second of his career.
Four different KW players shared in the eight goals, with half of them off the stick of Grady Holmes. Four goals is a new career high for Holmes, as is his five points.
Lost in all the Burlington points was Chuck Rawson who scored his first and second goals of the season, part of six points.
Burlington will have a home date against the St Catharines Athletics (5-6) on Sunday – note the start time is 5pm at Central Arena. Kitchener-Waterloo will also be in action again Sunday, travelling to face the Mimico Mountaineers (6-3).
