GRIMES APPOINTS GARRISON AS ADVISOR

TORONTO, ONTARIO—Ontario Junior ‘A’ Lacrosse League (OJALL) Commissioner Mark Grimes announced today the appointment of Ian Garrison as the league’s Referee in Chief and Advisor to the Commissioner’s Office.

Garrison is the Vice President, Officiating for the Ontario Lacrosse Association (OLA) and a Crew Chief in the National Lacrosse League (NLL). Recognized as one of the best officials in professional box lacrosse, Garrison brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to the OJALL at an important time for the new direction of the league.

“As the OLA’s VP, Officiating and one of the best Crew Chiefs in the NLL, Ian is uniquely positioned to take the officiating program to the next level,” said Grimes. “His experience and insight into how the league can best support the referees will prove to be invaluable as the OJALL continues to be a pipeline for National Lacrosse League players, coaches, and officials.”

“I am looking forward to working with Mark and the OJALL to provide our officials with opportunities to grow,” said Garrison. “I know Mark is committed to getting a season off the ground for the players, and the officials are ready to get back on the floor with them.”

Garrison recently met with the Commissioner and the OJALL Rules Committee—a distinguished group of well-known lacrosse leaders in Derek Keenan, Paul Day and Eddie Comeau—to provide counsel as the committee made recommendations on NLL rule adaptations that would be a fit for Junior A lacrosse. The Commissioner brought forward nine (9) rule recommendations that were unanimously approved by the league’s Board of Governors on Wednesday night.

The league is set to make an announcement on the rules later today.
