OJLL Appoints Jim Milligan as Deputy Commissioner

Toronto, ON — The Ontario Junior Lacrosse League (OJLL) is pleased to announce the appointment of Jim Milligan as its new Deputy Commissioner. Milligan brings a wealth of experience in lacrosse operations, coaching, and leadership, making him an ideal candidate to support the league’s mission of developing junior lacrosse in Ontario.

With decades of experience at the professional, senior, junior, and minor levels, Milligan has held various coaching and management roles across the National Lacrosse League (NLL) and the Ontario Lacrosse Association (OLA), including the OJLL, and Major Series Lacrosse (MSL), as well as the Western Lacrosse Association (WLA) in the British Columbia Lacrosse Association (BCLA). His proven track record includes three Minor National Championships with Team Ontario, three Minto Cups, five Mann Cups, and a World Lacrosse Championship with Team Canada. In addition to his on-floor success, Milligan has extensive experience in player recruitment, draft processes, and league operations, which will be invaluable as he steps into this leadership position within the OJLL.

"I’m honoured to step into the role of Deputy Commissioner and continue contributing to the growth and success of the OJLL," said Milligan. "Lacrosse has been a lifelong passion of mine, and throughout my career, I’ve had the privilege of working with players, coaches, and organizations at every level of the game. This opportunity allows me to bring that experience to the league in a new capacity—helping to uphold its strong foundation while fostering the next generation of talent," he added. "The OJLL has a proud tradition, and I’m excited to play a role in shaping its future."

Hailing from Peterborough, Milligan grew up immersed in lacrosse, developing a passion for the game from an early age. His son, Cam, followed in his footsteps, playing for the Peterborough Lakers Minor and Junior programs before being drafted by the New England Black Wolves in the 2017 NLL Entry Draft.

With Jim Milligan stepping into the role, the OJLL remains committed to upholding the highest standards of lacrosse governance. We look forward to his leadership and the continued growth of junior lacrosse in Ontario.

A Legacy of Leadership: Thank You to Bob Clevely

As we welcome Jim Milligan to the role, the OJLL would like to express its deep appreciation to Bob Clevely, whose term as Deputy Commissioner concluded in the Fall of 2024.

A respected figure in the lacrosse community, Clevely has dedicated his life to the sport, earning inductions into both the Ontario Lacrosse Hall of Fame and the Canadian Lacrosse Hall of Fame. His impact on junior lacrosse has been immeasurable, guiding the league with integrity, commitment, and passion. In 2019, he was awarded the prestigious Thomas “Tip” Teather Trophy for outstanding service to lacrosse in Ontario, further cementing his legacy as one of the sport’s great leaders. While he has chosen to step away from the role, his contributions to the OJLL will be felt for years to come.

Thank you, Beav.
