OJLL Announces Protected Player Lists Ahead of 2025 Draft
The Ontario Junior Lacrosse League (OJLL) has released each team’s protected list in advance of the 2025 OJLL Draft. The draft is scheduled for Sunday, January 19, 2025 at the Toronto Rock Athletic Centre in Oakville, Ontario. Ontario Lacrosse Association (OLA) players born in 2008 who are not protected by an OJLL team are eligible for selection in the two rounds of the upcoming draft. Centres with teams in the Ontario Junior B Lacrosse League (OJBLL) or Ontario Junior C Lacrosse League (OJCLL) may only have one player selected each year, and only one goalie from these centres can be drafted over a five-year period [OLA R6.38(a)].
Each team is allotted two selections in the annual entry draft, with the team that finished the previous season with the fewest points earning the first selection, followed by the other teams in reverse order of finish. Previous trade commitments and future considerations may affect the number of selections any one team has in a given year. There are twenty two selections in total. The Oakville Buzz, led by General Manager Troy Cordingley, currently hold the first overall pick. Fans can stay on top of the current draft order here.
Please note that the event will be closed to the public. Draft selections and transactions will be updated on 𝕏 beginning at 1:00 p.m. ET and published on the league’s website once the draft concludes.
The following players are protected in accordance with R6.43(a) of the OLA Rules and Regulations and will not be available for selection:
