SIX NATIONS ARROWS SNEAK INTO POSTSEASON, DEFEATING MIMICO

With their season on the line Wednesday night, the Six Nations Arrows hosted the Mimico Mountaineers who had already locked up their place in the postseason. With a win Mimico could’ve jumped as high as second, but, with most of their offence resting settled for a tie with Peterborough (who won both head-to-head matchups). The Arrows, at full strength, scored five times in the third period to win 9-5 and sneak into the playoffs.

Jaden Jimerson and Noah Snyder pushed the Arrows out to a 2-0 lead five and half minutes into the game. Seven minutes later, after Cameron Essensa scored Mimico’s first game, Owen Hobbs took the ensuing faceoff into Six Nations end, and eventually into the net, tying the game at 2.

The teams traded goals through the second period with Justin Tavares scoring twice for Mimico, and Snyder collecting his second of the game.

In the third, goals from Daylin John-Hill and McCay Jimerson exactly two minutes apart gave the lead back to Six Nations for the final time. Despite Zach Abu-Ali scoring his first OJLL goal, the Arrows ran off three more in just over two minutes to win 9-5 and claim seventh place by way of a three-way tiebreaker that included Toronto and Whitby.

Noah Snyder (3+3) has seven career hat tricks. Including Wednesday, three of them came in the final three games of the season. Matthew Hamill (2+1) was the other multi-goal scorer. Sakaronhiotane Thompson allowed just five goals (off 35 shots) for the second straight game. It also sets a new career-low for goals allowed in a start.

Adam Power started for Mimico and faced 55 shots. Justin Tavares (2+1) was the only multi-goal scorer. Owen Hobbs (1+1) was the only other player with multiple points.
