WHITBY WARRIORS’ VETERANS COMBINE FOR SECOND WIN IN KITCHENER-WATERLOO

On Friday night Kitchener-Waterloo welcomed the Whitby Warriors to Kinsmen arena. Both teams were coming off wins in their previous matchups, both the first victories of the season. Whitby’s veterans proved to be too much for the home side as they scored 11 goals off 66 shots, winning 11-5.

Despite not scoring through the first two games of the season, Ryan Langille netted four against Burlington, and continued his hot streak opening the scoring early in the first. That goal would be matched by Brayden Mitchell, the only time the score was tied on the night. Gabriel Sorichetti’s second of the year gave Whitby a 2-1 lead at the break.

Sorichetti wasn’t done there. He scored three times in the second period and added assists on two of Lucas Littlejohn’s three in the frame. Malikye Good and Joaquin Gatt both scored for KW, yet still trailed 8-3 after two.

The third started the way the second did – with a Sorichetti goal, his fifth of the game. He’d assist on Jake Darlison’s pair of goals in the period eventually helping Whitby to an 11-5 win.

Gabriel Sorichetti’s five goals was a career high. His nine points is the second-highest total of his OJLL career (10, vs Six Nations June 11, 2023). Ryan Langille (1+4) had five points and Jake Darlison (2+2) had four. Lucas Littlejohn’s second hat trick of the season gives him 11 goals and a tie for fourth in the OJLL.

Kitchener-Waterloo’s five goals were scored by five different players. Max Frattaroli (1+3) was the only multi-point scorer.
