HAMISH MCPHERSON NEXT MAN UP FOR TORONTO IN WIN OVER KITCHENER

In the absence of Matt Collison Tuesday night, the usual Toronto Beaches suspects – Willem Firth and Greg Palmer – put up big offensive numbers in Kitchener-Waterloo. As did Hamish McPherson who had his best career offensive night by a wide margin helping Toronto to a 13-7 win, and a season sweep of KW.

Toronto not only had an early 3-0 lead, but also chased Kitchener starter MJ Schwager in his OJLL debut. Three minutes into the game Hamish McPherson already had three points. Through the remainder of the period Treyton Weinstein, Malikye Good on the power play and Max Frattaroli in the final minute kept the score a respectable 4-3 for the Beaches after one.

After Clark Dunford tied the game just over a minute and a half into the second period, Toronto went on a four goal run stretching through the frame. Four different players – Greg Palmer’s second, McPherson’s hat trick, Willem Firth’s second and Hunter Lubiniecki – all scored in succession. Good and Firth traded goals to close out the period with Toronto still on top, 9-5.

Less than five minutes into the final frame both Firth and Palmer completed their hat tricks. Palmer and McPherson would both score again late in the period to make the final 13-7.

For the third time this season, and ninth overall, Willem Firth put up double-digit points (3+7). This gives him 93 on the season (in 12 games), 20 ahead of Greg Palmer in second. Firth’s hat trick goal in the third period was the four-hundredth point of his OJLL career (75 games). Greg Palmer’s eight points (5+3) tie for his highest mark this season. Hamish McPherson set career highs in goals (4) and points (6).

Malikye Good led Kitchener-Waterloo with four points (2+2). Max Frattaroli (2+1) was the only other multiple goal scorer.
