KITCHENER-WATERLOO WIN SECOND STRAIGHT OVER SIX NATIONS
On Wednesday night Kitchener-Waterloo defeated Six Nations 10-5, the second straight time the Arrows lost at Kinsmen Arena. Sunday night, the rivalry switched to the Iroquois Lacrosse Arena. However, it ended with the same result – a 10-5 win for KW.
Kitchener’s Noah Candy starred in the first period with a goal and two assists on three goals. The Arrows’ Brendan Anderson and KW’s Nolan Barker both scored in a wild final minute. When the horn sounded, Kitchener-Waterloo led 3-1.
Chris Rathwell extended the lead five minutes into the second period. His goal was answered by Thunder Hill, who scored on the power play and later added an assist in the frame. Rathwell had a helper on Max Frattaroli’s power play marker which kept the lead at 6-3 heading into the final frame.
Two and a half minutes into the third the offenses showed up combining for five goals (three for KW, two for Six Nations) in a 4:26 span. Rathwell had a pair of points during the outburst, as did Six Nations’ Shakorennawis Swamp. Lowen Martin capped a feisty third period that ended with Kitchener-Waterloo’s second win of the season 10-5.
Chris Rathwell was a point off his career-high with six (3+3). Nate DeThomasis (2+0) and Lowen Martin (2+0) were the only other multi-goal scorers.
All five of Six Nations goals were scored by five different players. They were led in points by Thunder Hill (1+2) who now has 15 goals (in six games), three behind Toronto’s Willem Firth for tops in the OJLL.
