If Sunday’s matchup between the Whitby Warriors and Six Nations Arrows wasn’t over after the defending Minto Cup Champions’ 6-1 first period, it was after their 7-3 second. The Warriors were in command the entire night at the ILA, handing the Arrows their fourth win of the season and sailing to a 15-8 victory.

Riley Knox opened the scoring 36 seconds into the game, and Whitby ended the period with three goals in just over a minute. Lucas Littlejohn was in on five of the six Warriors first period goals as they led 6-1 after the first.

Oneniotekowa Maracle did open the scoring in the second for his second of the game, but Whitby scored back-to-back goals in less than a minute three different times in the period, the final instance on the first career OJLL goal for Ben Kromer, and the first of the season for Robbie McGrayne. If the first was Littlejohn’s period, the second belonged to Gabriel Sorichetti who was in on six of Whitby’s seven goals, helping it lead 13-4.

Six Nations ended up winning the third period 4-2. Two different players scored their first Junior A goals in the frame, Zach Warren from Whitby and Reef Beal from the Arrows. Whitby fired 60 shots on the Six Nations net leading to a 15-8 win, just the third road win of the season.

Lucas Littlejohn’s seven points (3 goals, 4 assists) give him 38 in nine games, good enough for eighth in the league. Gabriel Sorichetti led the day for Whitby though, with 10 points (3 goals, 7 assists). Kaleb Martin stopped 36 of 44 shots for the win.

Seven different Arrows combined for eight goals, with Oneniotekowa Maracle scoring twice. Brendan Anderson led the team with five points (1 goal, 4 assists) while Thunder Hill and Ross Hill each had four (1 goal, 3 assists).

Both teams next games come at home with Six Nations playing host to the Mimico Mountaineers (5-3) on Monday, and the Whitby Warriors welcoming the Brampton Excelsiors (2-6) to Iroquois Park.
