Six Nations Arrows Back In The Win Column Ending Brampton’s Streak
Two streaks were on the line at the ILA on Sunday: the Brampton Excelsiors three-game win streak, and the Six Nations Arrows three-game losing streak. After both teams missed the post season in 2022, the added motivation was the winner would also leave the weekend in eighth place. With a 9-6 victory, that team is the Six Nations Arrows.
They jumped out to a 2-0 lead with Owen Vanloon and Daylin John-Hill scoring within 39 seconds of each other. Brampton would get both back, the second of which was on a major power play, off the stick of Erich Acton. But Ross Hill scored a power play marker of his own to put the Arrows ahead 3-2 after one.
Through the majority of the second period the teams went back and forth. In the final minute, Hill scored his eighth of the season. Just 19 seconds later, and with 25 to go John-Hill also scored his second to put Six Nations up 7-4.
Four straight penalties opened the door for Brampton to score back-to-back power play goals, but in the end Thunder Hill and Tyler Davis scored 51 seconds apart to seal the 9-6 win.
Ethan Robertson returned to the win column, stopping 51 of 57 shots he faced.
Eric Ward led Brampton with five points (2 goals, 3 assists). Dante Kulas was right behind with four (2 goals, 2 assists). Bowie Horsman’s lone point (1 goal) is his lowest output of the season. In fact, it’s his lowest since the Arrows held him scoreless in last year’s season finale – after they held him to one point earlier in the season.
Six Nations will next host the Burlington Blaze (8-4) at the ILA on Wednesday night. At the same time, Brampton will be playing host to Kitchener-Waterloo (1-11) in their next action.
