Following their dramatic overtime victory in Peterborough on Friday, the Six Nations Arrows hosted the Oakville Buzz on Sunday with a chance to become the first OJLL team with three wins. For the second straight game extra time was required, and for the second straight game it was the Arrows who came out victorious, winning 8-7.

Jaden Kennedy and Thunder Hill scored subsequent goals twice in the first period – first separated by 32 seconds and later just 24. Ryan Barker put up the only Oakville marker while shorthanded as the Buzz trailed 4-1 after 20 minutes.

The lead would be erased in the second. Brian Jackman scored in the opening minute, and the rest of the offense was provided by Will Sheehan who scored twice. Oakville netminder and Buffalo Bandit draft pick Evan Constantopoulos blanked the Arrows, part of 48 saves off 56 shots in the game. Sakaronhiotane Thompson returned to Six Nations’ net making 57 saves from 64 shots faced.

In the third, Kennedy completed his hat trick early and it took nearly eight minutes for another goal. That goal came from Jackman to re-tie the game. Two goals a minute apart from Winter Rivera and Hill swung the lead back to the home side. However, less than a minute later Riley Ford scored. He’d do it again with just under five to play in what would be the goal to send the game to overtime tied 7-7.

Just over two minutes into the third it was Cole Powless who handed the Arrows their second straight overtime victory, 8-7, and their third of the season to sit alone atop the OJLL standings.

Sakaronhiotane Thompson has now faced the fourth most shots in the OJLL – the three netminders ahead of him have played three games to his two. Thompson leads qualified goalies with a 6.39 GAA and .904 save percentage. Thunder Hill scored three goals, giving him a hat trick in every game this season. He sits two goals back of Toronto’s Willem Firth (13) for the OJLL lead. Jaden Kennedy’s three goals were the first of his OJLL career.

Will Sheehan (2+1), Riley Ford (2+0) and Brian Jackman (2+1) scored twice for Oakville. Ryan Barker was the other goal scorer, and Jake Dawick added three assists.
